Data and Figure Index

The Data and Figure Index records visual and numerical assets as evidence-bearing objects. A figure should not be only a file path. It should have a source, a purpose, alt text, a page where it is used, a license status, and a review status.

As of this review, the committed visual asset set consists of 26 SVG figures under public/figures/ and 26 matching TikZ sources under public/figures-src/.

  • Figure Index: committed figure files, sources, and primary pages.
  • Diagram Index: conceptual and schematic diagrams by function.
  • Animation Index: admission rules and planned animation families.
  • Datasets: dataset admission, provenance, and checksum expectations.
  • Plot Reproduction: rules for generated plots and notebook-backed figures.
  • Licensing: license, attribution, and reuse policy for assets.
  • Accessibility Notes: alt text, captions, color, motion, and dataset accessibility rules.

An asset belongs in the reference layer only when it has:

  • a stable path,
  • source or provenance,
  • the page or pages where it appears,
  • purpose and plotted or diagrammed quantity,
  • alt text or an accessibility explanation,
  • license status,
  • review or reproducibility status.

Schematic diagrams should have tracked source files. Notebook-generated plots should link to a reproducible notebook or script and a benchmark check.
