Formula Corrections
Formula corrections record changes to equations, assumptions, normalization choices, signs, factors, and formula-card metadata. They are high-priority because readers use formulas for calculations.
No public formula correction entries have been recorded yet for the current draft build.
What Belongs Here
Section titled “What Belongs Here”Record a formula correction when a change affects:
- a sign,
- a factor of , , , , , or volume,
- a matrix entry,
- a normalization convention,
- a boundary condition,
- a domain or assumption,
- a dimensional factor,
- a displayed formula in a formula-card page,
- an equation used by a worked example or benchmark.
Minor prose around a formula belongs in site errata only if the formula itself was correct.
Correction Entry
Section titled “Correction Entry”Use this format:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| ID | stable correction identifier |
| page | affected page |
| formula label or section | where the formula appears |
| issue type | sign, factor, unit, convention, domain, notation, or typo |
| old form | short description, not a long quote |
| corrected form | corrected statement or formula |
| source checked | canonical page, textbook, paper, or derivation |
| status | confirmed, fixed, superseded, or wontfix |
| date fixed | date |
Formula Review Checklist
Section titled “Formula Review Checklist”Before marking a formula correction fixed, check:
- dimensions,
- limiting cases,
- sign conventions,
- normalization conventions,
- consistency with the canonical derivation,
- internal links to formula and derivation pages,
- KaTeX rendering,
- references.
Common Formula Error Types
Section titled “Common Formula Error Types”- A missing after moving between natural and SI units.
- A Fourier transform sign copied from a different convention.
- A scattering amplitude formula quoted with a mismatched normalization.
- A density-matrix trace formula with transposed subsystem ordering.
- A Pauli or spin matrix with an incorrect sign.
